NetDay AmeriCorps Bridge Program
Rio Grande Valley, TX

Partner Since 2000

Mercedes ISD is a small district in the southern-most part of Texas. With the help of NetDay and AmeriCorps, we were able to expand technology to classrooms. Most companies help the communities where they are based, and NetDay brought donations and resources for both hardware and human resources to Mercedes. We are able to give our children the opportunity to enhance learning and use different tools to express themselves.

NetDay: A Source of Pride and Leverage
One of the first community initiative sites for NetDay, the Rio Grande Valley is the fourth largest growing metropolitan area in the United States and the second fastest growing area in Texas. NetDay has organized significant technology donations from national sponsors and provided support for infrastructure development and maintenance.

The rural border towns of the Valley stretch along the Rio Grande River. Most of the AmeriCorps members came from the Valley and joined to earn scholarship money while making a difference in their community. At Mercedes Independent School District (ISD), AmeriCorps members kept technology running, assisted teachers, and served as role models for students.
